Ron and Barb Lorenzo have been involved with Barnes Pharmacy since 1973. They transformed the business into one of the largest full-line pharmacy and gift stores in northeast Colorado.

Barnes is known for patient counseling, customer service, competitive pricing, unique gifts and gourmet foods.

Barnes is centrally located on 422 Main Street in Sterling, Colorado, and they specialize in your complete health care needs.

The old-fashioned, small town store atmosphere truly sets Barnes apart from the generic large chains. The beautiful and unique gift displays designed by Barb and her "gift girls" contribute to the entertaining element at Barnes Pharmacy and creates a unique shopping experience for their customers.

Barnes is the place where the sales staff people call you by name and the pharmacist knows what "little pink pill" you take.

Throughout many changes over the years, Ron and Barb have maintained a close relationship with their customers.

Though continually modernizing to keep up with the high tech retail world, they have managed to be innovative by being the first in the area with free blood pressure, diabetes consultation and free glucose testing.

Along with their daughters Jenae Lorenzo Lock and Marisa Stull, they continue to be the pharmacy in Sterling that wins the "People's Choice" award from the local newspaper. The pharmacists are always providing the best service possible.

Staff

Ron Lorenzo graduated from the University of Colorado Pharmacy School in 1960. He then went to work for Fitzsimmons and Upjohn Pharmaceutical. In 1963 he came to Sterling to work for Bob Walker at Walker Pharmacy.

Kyle Jost graduated from North Dakota State University in 2008 with a doctorate of pharmacy.  He then went to work for Walgreen’s, where he says he quickly realized that working for a big chain pharmacy was just not for him.

In 2009, he joined the team at Barnes Pharmacy and says, “deciding to come and work at Barnes Pharmacy was one of the best decisions I have ever made.  The staff is absolutely incredible.  I think you would be hard pressed to find any one anywhere else with as good of customer service skills as you find at Barnes.  The customers that do business with us are also fantastic.  They are always very polite and courteous.  I can’t tell you enough how proud I am to be a part of Barnes Pharmacy and a part of the Sterling community.”

Casey Behrends, a pharmacy graduate from Midwestern University I Glendale, AZ is our newest pharmacist at Barnes Pharmacy.  She grew up across the US and moved to Littleton, Colorado with her family at 17.  She graduated from UNC in Greeley in 2007 and then moved to Arizona.  Soon after she realized Colorado was the place she wanted to call home and couldn’t wait to return.  Casey enjoys being outdoors, meeting new people and watching sports.  Stop by and say hello.

Jenae Lorenzo Lock graduated from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center with a bachelor's of pharmacy in 1998. She did her undergraduate studies at Northeastern Junior College. Jenae is a certified Diabetic Management Consultant.   Jenae has completed a specialty rotation in home infusion services and veterinary medicine at Colorado State University.

Jenae says that “having been raised in the pharmacy environment, I fell in love with the profession at an early age.  I love being able to call my customers by their first name and enjoy helping people.”

JoEllen Shepherd graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana with a B.S. in Pharmacy in 1977.  She moved to Greeley, CO in 1981 and received Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Colorado in 2003.  She has Certificates in Compounding, Diabetes Management, and Immunization Delivery.

JoEllen is our Saturday pharmacist.  She says: “I really enjoy working at Barnes Pharmacy.  The employees and customers are so welcoming and friendly that I consider it a privilege to drive from Greeley to work here”.
